Dalaman Airport Guide 2027: Terminals, Parking, Money, SIM Cards and Transport

Updated 8 min readAuthor: Mavi Transfer

Dalaman Airport (DLM) has two terminals side by side: as of 2026, international flights use Terminal 2, opened in 2018, while domestic flights use Terminal 1, the former international building. Getting from the aircraft to the kerb is quick by Turkish standards, and outside you will find Havaş and Muttaş coaches, taxis, car hire desks and pre-booked transfers. This guide covers everything in between: passport control, cash, SIM cards, food, parking and getting to your resort.

Dalaman Airport Terminals Explained

According to the airport operator YDA, Terminal 1 opened in summer 2006 as the international terminal, and Terminal 2 followed on 5 July 2018. Today the newer building handles international traffic and the older one handles domestic flights. The two are linked by a covered walkway, but if you are connecting airside you will have to clear security again.

In both buildings arrivals are on the ground and first floors and departures on the second and third floors. Package holidaymakers on a UK or Irish charter will almost always be in Terminal 2, but it is still worth checking your booking or airline app.

Arriving at Dalaman: Passport Control, Baggage and Customs

  1. Entry rules: British citizens can visit Turkey visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, and the UK government advises your passport should be valid for at least 150 days from arrival. Nationals who need a visa should apply on the official Turkish e-Visa website before flying; there is also a visa office before passport control.

  2. Passport control: 32 desks serve international arrivals. On busy summer mornings, when several charters land together, expect a queue.

  3. Baggage reclaim: eight belts, plus a small arrivals duty free shop.

  4. Customs: if you have goods to declare, use the customs desk in the reclaim hall; otherwise walk straight out.

  5. Outside: tour operator reps and transfer companies have welcome desks in the car park area just beyond the exit.

If you have booked with Mavi Transfer, head to desk no. 4; the walk is explained step by step in our Dalaman Airport pickup meeting point guide.

Money: Cash Machines, Exchange and Paying by Card

There are ATMs and bureaux de change in the terminals, but airport rates tend to be weaker than in town. A sensible approach for a family arriving from the UK:

  • Withdraw a modest amount of Turkish lira for the first day: water, snacks, tips and the bus if you take one.

  • If a cash machine or card terminal offers to charge you in pounds, decline and pay in lira; letting your own bank convert is usually cheaper.

  • Change larger sums at an exchange office in your resort.

  • Card payment is widespread in resorts, but always carry some cash for small purchases.

SIM Cards, eSIMs and Free Wi-Fi

Dalaman offers 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi. To get a password, scan your passport at a kiosk in the check-in hall, the domestic baggage hall or just before international passport control. Paid premium access is available by credit card.

Turkey is outside the EU roaming zone, so check your UK network's day pass before relying on it. A foreign phone can be used with a Turkish SIM for up to 120 days without registration, which comfortably covers any holiday. The easiest option is an eSIM bought before departure and switched on as you land. Local Turkcell, Vodafone and Türk Telekom SIMs are sold with your passport; airport outlets usually charge more than shops in town.

Food, Drink and Lounges

The widest choice is airside in international departures: coffee chains, simit bakeries, kebab and burger outlets, Italian and Asian street food and a couple of bars. The domestic side is smaller, and there are cafes in the check-in hall and arrivals. The Park Cafe in the car park is open 24 hours, handy if you are meeting someone off a late flight.

The international CIP lounge moved in 2025 and now sits opposite gate 39 after passport control. Entry is by reservation or partner card (programmes listed by the airport include British Airways and DragonPass), with a three-hour limit. There is a separate domestic lounge and a paid Fast Track service.

Parking at Dalaman Airport

The car park has sections for Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, covers around 73,000 m² and is open 24/7. Charges follow the DHMİ national tariff, last updated in January 2026.

  • You pay on exit and then have 20 minutes to leave.

  • Stays over 24 hours are charged in full days plus a pro-rata amount.

  • Vehicles carrying disabled passengers can park free with documentation.

If you live locally and are weighing up parking against a return transfer, compare the totals; our Dalaman Airport transfer prices guide is a good starting point.

Getting from Dalaman Airport to Your Resort

Havaş coaches leave from the airport car park. The Fethiye line runs via Dalaman, Göcek and Günlükbaşı to Fethiye bus station; the Marmaris line goes via Dalaman, Ortaca, Köyceğiz and Gökova to Marmaris bus station. Departures are mainly timed around domestic arrivals, so international passengers may face a wait. Tell the driver in advance and you can be dropped at suitable points along the main road.

Muttaş, run by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, operates line 48-25 to Fethiye bus station and 48-26 to Marmaris bus station. Municipal minibuses into Dalaman town board on the departures level. Timetables change with the season, so check the airport's public transport page before you travel.

Taxis are run by the Dalaman Airport Taxi Cooperative; agree the fare before a long journey. Car hire desks are on the arrivals floor and open around the clock.

With children and suitcases, a bus-station change in July heat is rarely fun. Our shared shuttle services and door-to-door private airport transfers take you straight to your hotel. Popular choices include the Dalaman Airport to Fethiye transfer, and you can compare every option in our guides to getting from Dalaman Airport to Fethiye and getting from Dalaman Airport to Marmaris.

Landing Late at Night

Plenty of UK charters land after midnight, when public transport is thin on the ground. A taxi or a pre-booked transfer that tracks your flight is the reliable choice, as the driver waits even if you are delayed. Read more in our Dalaman Airport night transfer guide.

Accessibility and the Sunflower Lanyard

  • There is a help point outside the departures entrance and accessible information desks in both halls.

  • Wheelchairs and escorts are provided by the ground handling company, with ambulift boarding available. Request assistance through your airline when booking.

  • Accessible toilets, tactile paths and dedicated check-in, security and passport lanes are provided.

  • Dalaman recognises the Sunflower Lanyard for hidden disabilities. You can collect one from an information desk without paperwork, and it gives priority at security.

Lost Luggage and Lost Property

If your case does not appear, do not leave the baggage hall. Report it at the airline or handling agent's lost baggage desk, get a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) reference and give your hotel address and phone number. Items left on the aircraft are handled by the airline.

For things lost inside the terminal, the airport runs a 24-hour Lost & Found office; enquiries are made through an online form and usually answered within two working days. If your bags are delayed, let your transfer company know straight away.

Flying Home: Check-in and Security

Hand luggage follows the standard rules: liquids in containers of 100 ml or less, in one transparent bag of up to one litre. Duty free liquids are fine in cabin bags if sealed with the receipt. Summer queues at check-in and passport control can be long, so see our advice on how early to arrive at Dalaman Airport.

Quick Tips Before You Land

  • Keep passports and your accommodation address to hand.

  • Switch your phone on after landing and check for messages from your transfer company.

  • Buy water in the reclaim hall: shade outside the terminal is limited in summer.

  • Staying nearby? Even short trips are easier booked ahead: see the Sarıgerme transfer and Dalyan transfer.
